Series

Cosmograph Daytona

The Cosmograph Daytona is the chronograph line: two pushers beside the crown, three smaller dials set into the main dial, and a tachymeter scale printed around the bezel. In this collection the series is represented by one steel 40 mm configuration with a white dial.

Design notes

What defines the Daytona

A dial organised around three extra scales

Most of what makes a Daytona recognisable happens inside the dial. The three subdials do not carry the same scale: in the pictured configuration the upper-right dial counts thirty units, the upper-left counts twelve and the lower dial counts sixty. They are read as elapsed minutes, elapsed hours and running seconds, while the long central hand belongs to the chronograph rather than to everyday timekeeping. The outer minute track then sits between the hour markers and the bezel print, which is a lot of information arranged in concentric bands. Viewing the dial from straight on and slightly above shows how those bands are separated.

Where the Daytona sits in this collection

Compared with the Submariner, the Daytona shows more on the dial and adds two controls to the side of the case. Compared with the Datejust, it keeps a monochrome case-and-bracelet combination and does without a calendar. That makes it the busiest of the three designs here, and the one where the bezel text and the dial markings are meant to be used rather than merely looked at. Model reference, case size and the details of the pictured configuration are listed on the watch page; availability, price and shipping to your country are confirmed in the WhatsApp conversation.

These notes describe the design as it appears in the photographs on this site. Movement, water resistance, weight and material composition are not stated here, because those belong to the specific unit being offered and are confirmed in the conversation before anything is paid.
